The hospitality industry expands, as a great opportunity for professional development
The hospitality industry is growing, and with it the need for people specialized in personal services to meet the needs of increasingly demanding customers and with greater economic resources, said the director of the British Institute of Butlers of London, United Kingdom, Gary Williams
The specialist, who has worked for members of royalty, ministers, Russian and Chinese oligarchs, billionaires, musicians and artists, considered that while there is a boom in the service sector, instruction is needed so that mayordomos can specialize.
In this regard, he said that Mexico is a great country in which the hospitality industry is growing, and is a great destination for people with high economic resources, however, he said, should be taken to the next level, with people who can provide a great service
Given this, the expert reported that the company Hospitality & Butler and the School of Institution Administration (ESDAI) of the Universidad Panamericana (UP), created the foundation "Changing people's lives" (Changing lives), which aims to help young people with low resources in the country, by offering them various training courses in technical level training in hospitality services free of charge.
"Mexicans are very friendly and warm, but the industry requires specialized people who can develop their skills to serve with professionalism, customers are looking for people who can take the service industry to another level," Williams said.
He also said, as part of the specialization in service, it is necessary that future mayordomos have other languages, so he stressed the importance of studying English at least and be handled in an advanced manner.
Thus, from November 23 to 27, the foundation offered the first certification, where Williams offered a magna class in conjunction with the founder of the Hospitality & Butler company, Montserrat Barros.
Within the framework of the work of the foundation, the certification in hospitality and luxury service was carried out by 80 young people belonging to technical schools in the states of Mexico, Jalisco, Tlaxcala and Coahuila.
The selection of the young women was based on the best averages of their generation to attend for free this certification, which has a cost of 12 thousand 459.07 pesos, and lasted one and a half days.
"I hope that students realize that this world is synonymous with opportunities for people with the right skills, however, they must be trained correctly, because if so, they can become very successful in this industry," he said. Williams.
Montserrat Barros expressed in his opportunity that it is a privilege to be able to infect less privileged people with a passion for service and attention to detail in order to be able to satisfy the needs of the most sophisticated clients.
"Be part of this project, provide tools of the highest global standards, share knowledge to improve opportunities, contribute to their value as people and change lives, full of pride," he said.
Barros said she felt honored to help Mexico, with the alliance of The British Butler Institute, by conducting trainings at no cost to people who have less.
Among the topics reviewed were Hospitality at the highest level; Luxury service; Service attitude; Physical presence and non-verbal language; Anticipation, consistency and care of small details.
